Environmental Science and Society
(Group 4: Experimental Sciences)
IB Environmental Systems and Societies is an trans disciplinary study that provides hands-on learning opportunities for students to investigate ecological processes, population dynamics, and the impacts that humans have on our environment. Field studies, lab activities, current events, and research assignments ask the student to apply theoretical concepts to real world practice. Students will develop an awareness of ethical, social, and economic influences that shape environmental philosophies. “The prime intent of this course is to provide students with a coherent perspective of the interrelationships between environmental systems and societies; one that enables them to adopt an informed personal response to the wide range of pressing environmental issues...both local and global in their extent.” (from the IB Environmental Systems and Societies Guide)
